UIII Research Funding

Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) is a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) that has a role in implementing the tri dharma of higher education, conducting studies in the scientific and policy development, and assisting the government in carrying out diplomatic missions. Based on Government Regulation No. 23 of 2019 concerning the Statute of the International Islamic University of Indonesia, UIII has a vision of "Creating a better world through excellent graduate education and research on Islam and society in the Muslim world", where one of its missions is " Developing innovative research on Islam and Muslim societies and contributing to the development of knowledge and social welfare".

In order to strengthen academic research culture, the UIII is committed to conducting research programs that have a character in the form of a balanced blend of religious values, Indonesianness, and diversity of paradigms to find the truth and uphold human values. As a newly established university, UIII will continue to strive optimally in encouraging and facilitating research activities in the UIII.

 

Type of Research

1.  Fundamental Research

Basic research is research with the aim of developing existing scientific theories and/or finding new theories to improve understanding or predictability of social and natural phenomena.

2.  Applied Research

Applied research is research that has been mastered and/or the results of basic research to obtain solutions to the problems faced, develop or recommend policies, concepts, models, and indexes.

3.  Developmental Research

Developmental Research is an activity to increase the usefulness and carrying capacity of science and technology that has been proven correct and safe to improve the functions and benefits of science and technology.

4.  Analytical/Descriptive Research

Analytical/Descriptive research is research carried out to produce outputs of research articles or policies from a series of systematic, comprehensive, and participatory analyses that have the same characteristics as basic research, applied research, and development research.

1.  UIII FLAGSHIP RESEARCH

This research scheme is an interdisciplinary research, aiming to develop various leading research topics of UIII, from various aspects including Islamic studies, economics and business, social sciences, education sciences, and interfaith studies.

Terms and Conditions

a.  The requirement for the team leader should have a doctoral degree.

b.  The team consists of 2-5 people. 

Output

a.  Research report and Research Poster;

b.  Draft articles for publication in accredited journals; and/or

c.  A book dummy.

Outcome

a.  Published in international journals indexed in reputable databases;

b.  Book/book chapter; or

c.  Copyright.

This research is also expected to produce other additional outcomes.

The outcome should be reported no later than 3 (three) years after the year of receiving financing. The output will be evaluated annually.

 

2.  UIII FACULTY-BASED RESEARCH

This research scheme aims to increase the capacity, role, and participation of lecturers and students in conducting research, with research themes according to the themes of each faculty or study program.

Terms and Conditions

a.  The requirement for the team leader should have a doctoral degree.

b.  Research can be carried out independently or in a team with a maximum of 3 people.

Output

a.  Research report and Research Poster;

b.  Draft articles for publication in accredited journals; and/or

c.  A book dummy.

Outcome

a.  Published in the national (minimum SINTA 2) or international journal; or

b.  Book/book chapter.

This research is also expected to produce other additional outcomes.

The outcome should be reported no later than 3 (three) years after the year of receiving financing. The output will be evaluated annually.

 

3.  UIII COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH

This research scheme aims for research that collaborates with researchers outside UIII/partners both in Indonesia and abroad, to develop various leading innovation research topics together. (the proposal is attached with a letter of commitment from researchers outside UIII/partners).

Terms and Conditions

a.  The requirement for the team leader should have a doctoral degree.

b.  The team consists of 3-5 people, with at least 1 researcher outside UIII/partners.

c.  A letter of commitment for the outside UIII researchers/partners.

Output

a.  Research report and Research Poster;

b.  Draft articles for publication in accredited journals; and/or

c.  A book dummy.

Outcome

a.  Published in international journals indexed in reputable databases;

b.  Book/book chapter;

c.  Innovative products;

d.  Policy draft; or

e.  Copyright.

This research is also expected to produce other additional outcomes.

The outcome should be reported no later than 3 (three) years after the year of receiving financing. The output will be evaluated annually.

 

Additional Terms and Conditions

  1. This program is a 1 (one) year research program.
  2. Each applicant can only apply for one research proposal.
  3. All publications in the articles, papers, or books should include a statement that the research is funded by UIII.
  4. Changes in the team leader must be made before signing the agreement letter. If there is an addition/replacement of team members, it must be done before submitting the final research report by submitting a letter to the Directorate of Research and Strategic Cooperation UIII.
  5. Changes in research titles can be made by submitting a revised proposal/progress report/result report/article draft/dummy book attached with a letter requesting a change of title to the Directorate of Research and Strategic Cooperation UIII accompanied by reasons for the change.

 

UIII Research Flowchart

 

Proposal Submission

  1. Proposal and complete documents are submitted to the Directorate of Research and Strategic Cooperation at UIII by accessing the website when the research funding program has been opened.
  2. The proposal as referred to is an original work and has never received funding from other funding sources.
  3. The proposal must be short and concise with the components of the proposal consisting of at least:

a. title;

b. abstract;

c. introduction;

d. literature review;

e. methods;

f. budget plan; and

g. bibliography.

     4.  Research proposals can use Indonesian, English or Arabic (preferably English and Arabic). Proposals in Indonesian and Arabic must include

           the English version of the title and abstract.

     5.  Please refer to the attachment template that is available in the last chapter.

 

Proposal Selection

The selection process consists of two stages:

     1. Administration selection.

     2. Substance selection.
 
 
Research Grant Recipients Announcement
  1. Research proposals that pass the selection are determined through the Rector's Decree.

  2. Recipients of research funds are announced through the Directorate of Research and Strategic Cooperation of UIII.
  3. The signing of the Research Agreement is carried out immediately after the announcement.
  4. The research conduction refers to the research contract.

 

Research Report

Research reporting is carried out in two stages, namely the progress report and the final report. Progress reports are made during the research, no later than 2 months before the end of the Fiscal Year. The final report is carried out at the end of the Fiscal Year (in December) and is used as a basis for evaluating the success of implementing research activities.

Monitoring and evaluation of outcomes is reported 2-3 years from the year of receiving research funding, depending on each research scheme. Monitoring and evaluation is carried out by the Directorate of Research and Strategic Cooperation of UIII by involving the assessment team.

The components of the progress report consist of at least:

     a. title;

     b. introduction;

     c. method;

     d. result progress;

     e. bibliography;

     f. an attachment containing an explanation of the follow-up to the research and the output; and/or proof of submission to the journal/publisher (if any).

The components of the final report consist of at least: 

     a. title;

     b. introduction;

     c. method;

     d. result progress;

     e. bibliography;

     f. proof of submission to the journal/publisher (if any).

Progress report and final report can use English or Arabic.

The final report (output) can be a draft article for publication or a dummy book with a format based on the provisions of the journal/publisher.
