The mission of EWIRI is to serve as a leading hub of research, analysis and discourse on the important and sometimes sensitive relations between non-western countries and various parts of the Islamic world. EWIRI will use empirically based, analytically rigorous research to provide deeper insights into Non-western countries’ current activities, its future plans, and the response of various parts of the Islamic world towards Non-western countries’ influence.

  • Conduct cutting-edge research focusing on various aspects of Sino-Islamic relations, such as historical connections, economic partnerships, political interactions, and cultural exchanges.
  • Promote cross-cultural understanding and facilitate meaningful dialogue and understanding between non-western countries and Islamic communities, fostering mutual respect and cooperation.
  • Provide educational programmes, workshops and seminars to students, scholars and the public to deepen their knowledge of non-western countries’s engagement with the Islamic world.
  • Contribute to informed policy by collaborating with policymakers, governmental agencies, and international organisations to provide insights and recommendations that contribute to informed decision-making on matters related to Sino-Islamic relations.
